One of the most harmful behaviours that can keep us from leading happy lives is comparison. Although everyone develops at their own pace and in their own unique ways, it is natural to look at others and judge ourselves against them. As every person’s journey is different, we shouldn’t compare it to anyone else’s when planning our own. Each one has faced a lot of challenges, rejections, ups and downs but apparently when we see their success, often we forget what battle they have fought to reach that point.
“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt
When we evaluate ourselves in relation to others, we frequently concentrate on our own flaws, which can result in low self-esteem and feelings of inefficiency. We frequently contrast ourselves with those who have progressed further along their path than we have, forgetting that they too have faced hardships and obstacles to overcome.
“Stay in your lane. Comparison kills creativity and joy.” – Brene Brown
Instead of feeling depressed by comparison, concentrate on making your own growth and honour your own accomplishments. Be happy what you have achieved so far, plan next and move on. In the journey, sometimes, it may need to relook the shortcomings, fault of our own and work out for the plan for not repeating the same again.
“Two humans are completely different from each other, comparing them is like insulting nature.” – Nitin Namdeo
You receive the same amount of sun as everyone else. Yet it doesn’t specify how you should make use of the light. Develop at your own pace and in your own way. We all are same. God has created us in same manner. It depends on us what perspective we have towards our lives. We need our behavioural change to lead a joyful and peaceful life.
“Dear you, don’t compare yourself to anyone. Your Unique Self is empowered, powerful, and unstoppable! Your uniqueness is what makes you incomparable! Don’t underestimate the beauty of just being you.” – Stephanie Lahart
